Algeria Launches Qualifying Rounds for the International Qur’an Memorization Award with Broad Participation from Over 48 Countries

the qualifying rounds of the International Algeria Award for the Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Qur’an were launched in the Algerian capital, marking the start of the 21st edition of the competition. These rounds are a prelude to the final stage, which is expected to see the participation of representatives from more than 48 countries from around the world.

Hawzah News Agency- In statements, the Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments indicated that the number of participating countries is likely to increase in the coming hours to reach approximately 50 countries.

The minister affirmed that this edition reflects the growing stature that the International Algeria Award for the Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Qur’an has attained on the international stage, as well as the expanding recognition and interest it has garnered.

In the same context, he noted that the competition, across its various editions, constitutes a genuine opportunity to discover new Qur’an reciters and outstanding talents from within Algeria and beyond. It also reflects the advanced level Algeria has reached in serving the Holy Qur’an through mosques, Qur’anic schools, zawiyas, and Qur’anic recitation institutions.

He recalled that the Algerian state has continued to support this competition by introducing new categories and increasing the monetary value of the prize, thereby enhancing its standing and reinforcing official care for those who carry the Book of Allah.

The qualifying rounds are scheduled to continue until next Wednesday, after which 20 contestants from various countries will be selected to participate in the final stage of the competition, to be held in conjunction with the commemoration of Al-Isra and Al-Mi‘raj.
